Abstract

In this webinar, Jorge López, MSc, Flow Cytometry and Hematology Specialist, will discuss the implementation of PIDOT within a Next Generation Flow™ cytometry framework as a standardized approach for immune profiling in adult patients across immunology and hematology settings. The presentation will highlight the role of flow cytometry not only in the evaluation of suspected primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) in adults, but also in the assessment and longitudinal monitoring of immune alterations associated with hematologic neoplasms and their treatments.

Key topics will include:

  • Definition and clinical manifestations of PIDs in adult populations.
  • Diagnostic pathways for adults and the role of flow cytometry in identifying lymphoid abnormalities.
  • Factors contributing to delayed PID diagnosis in adults and their clinical consequences.
  • Advantages of PIDOT as a standardized Next Generation Flow™ cytometry tool for screening PIDs and interpreting lymphocyte subset patterns in adults.
  • Application of PIDOT in the monitoring of immune reconstitution and treatment-related immune alterations in patients with hematologic malignancies, including those receiving antibody-based therapies that selectively impact specific immune populations.

Real-life adult case examples will be presented to illustrate how PIDOT supports clinical triage, follow-up, and communication between the laboratory and the clinical team in patients with suspected immunodeficiencies as well as those undergoing treatment for Leukaemia. The webinar aims to raise awareness of the value of structured, standardized flow cytometric assessment in improving the management of adult patients across immunology and hematology.

Learning Objectices:

  • Understand the clinical and laboratory aspects of primary immunodeficiencies in adult patients and their diagnostic pathways.
  • Recognize the impact of delayed PID diagnosis and the importance of structured immune assessment using standardized flow cytometry.
  • Explore how PIDOT and Next Generation Flow™ cytometry support screening and immune monitoring in adult patients with PIDs and hematologic neoplasms, including those undergoing modern targeted and antibody-based therapies.
