Abstract

As healthcare systems advance precision diagnostics and risk stratification, integrating Cystatin C into routine practice is increasingly important. A measure of kidney function, Cystatin C offers advantages over serum creatinine, including fewer non-GFR determinants and improved CKD diagnosis, staging, and prognosis. For most ambulatory patients, the combined creatinine and Cystatin C equation provides the most accurate estimate of GFR1. In this webinar, Dr. Michael G. Shlipak will deliver practical, evidence-based guidance for incorporating Cystatin C testing into clinical care.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the clinical benefits and relevance of Cystatin C testing in kidney health
  • Review how CysC compares to serum creatinine (SCr)
  • Explore how incorporating CysC improves CKD diagnosis, staging, and risk stratification
  • Evaluate the role of combined eGFRcr-cys equations in clinical practice
